Eight Days of Hope XX

AMORY, MS | MARCH 9-16, 2024

The Disaster

On March 24, 2023, a deadly tornado outbreak impacted much of the south, including several town across Mississippi. In Amory, the EF-3 tornado damaged an estimated 1,500 homes, leaving the entire town impacted by the storm.

The Plan

Eight Days of Hope traveled to Amory, MS, in partnership with the Monroe Strong Long Term Recovery Committee to love and serve those in need. Immediately following the storm, our Rapid Response Ministry served 193 families with the help of over 1,000 volunteers. We were humbled to return to help many of the same families move one step closer to restoration!

The Work

Our amazing volunteers served 122 families in Monroe County, including those in Amory, Aberdeen, Hatley, and Smithville. 1,706 volunteers from 39 states and 2 countries provided 22 families with roofs, 28 families with freshly painted homes, and 62 families with move-in ready homes! Nearly $4 million of work was completed, but more importantly, many people came to know Christ, including some of our precious volunteers.
