EDOH Statement of Beliefs
(Required)
I agree to the Statement of Beliefs listed below.
We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God and constitutes completed and final revelation.
The Bible, in its original autograph, is without error in whole and part; including theological truths as well as geographical and historical details.
We believe God has existed from all eternity in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ is God, having come in human flesh, being fully God and fully man, except without sin.
We believe all men are in violation of God’s righteous requirements and His holy character both by nature and act: and are therefore under His wrath and just condemnation. The central purpose of the coming of Jesus Christ was to pay the penalty for man’s sin through His substitutionary death on the cross and subsequent, visible, bodily resurrection.
We believe salvation is offered as a gift: free to the sinner. The gift must be responded to in individual faith, not trusting in any personal works whatsoever, but the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ alone.
EDOH Leader Expectations
(Required)
I agree to adhere to the EDOH Leader Expectations listed below.
Eight Days of Hope Leaders serve as the face of the organization on a local and regional basis. These leaders, and those considered to become leaders, demonstrate a commitment to the purpose and mission of Eight Days of Hope as described in the by-laws of Eight Days of Hope.
These individuals:
1. Have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
2. Walk in a way that honors the Lord through actions and speech.
3. Can communicate their testimony.
4. Can communicate the purpose and mission of Eight Days of Hope to their local church, community, and others within their sphere of influence.
5. Serve the organization, its volunteers, its leaders, and the communities of homeowners in the name of Jesus Christ.
6. Be willing to put the needs of others first, help others develop, be willing to learn from
others, all with a serve first mindset.
The responsibilities of a Leader include the following:
1. Assist in serving during at least one event or commit to serve 7 days a year.
2. Be willing to accept an area of responsibility serving the organization with one of the arms of the ministry.
3. Be willing to attend pre-event meetings in a disaster area if called upon by the leadership team. This could include a scouting trip for rapid response, a rebuilding event, mass feeding, or a safe house project.
4. Be willing to arrive on site prior to an event to assist in pre-event planning or be willing to stay through the closing day to assist with post-event wrap-up.
5. Respect the leadership of Eight Days of Hope and the decisions made.
6. Offer insight and counsel when needed.
7. Be a problem solver and encourager when it comes to conflict.
8. Refrain from tearing down other leaders or the name of Eight Days of Hope as you serve.
9. Commit to bringing issues/problems you see as you serve to the staff of Eight Days of
Hope.
